IELTS & PTE
In 2017, there are three major English language proficiency exams used to test an applicant's ability to speak in English. In the past, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) were the most common.
In 2009, Pearson-one of the most prominent educational companies and publishing houses in the US-launched its own Proficiency Exam: the Pearson Test of English ( PTE ).

IELTS
- The
International English Language Testing System or IELTS is an international
standardized test of the English language proficiency for non-native English
language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS
Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment, and was established in
1989. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world.
PTE
- The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is an English language test designed to assess the readiness of non-native English speakers to participate in a university-level English language instruction program.
